Almost one-third of the healthcare organizations in Asia/Pacific are well aligned with their ecosystem, according to IDC FERS Survey 2021. However, sustainability lies in effectively handling the headwinds, tailwinds, and crosswinds by the healthcare organizations, by sensing the future technological trends. These predictions provide the digital health trends in the region, to enable healthcare organizations to be proactive, instead of just being reactive.

The report emphasizes a rapid shift from hospital-centric to patient-centric care delivery. Widespread deployment of telehealth and digital front door, lead consumers in Asia/Pacific in looking at better integrated care. Although digital front door strategy plays a critical role across the care continuum, a combination of physical and digital access while defining and designing integrated care must be ensured for countries in the region. Unique ecosystem models are essential in addressing digital divide and looping the most remote patient in the countries.

This report addressed various factors such as widening gaps across healthcare, ignoring chronic patients and digital skill-shortage under headwinds, government mandates, pandemic-driven disruption, emergence of healthtech start-ups and ecosystem-based approaches under tailwinds and impact of climate, disaggregated care model, population health and patient empowerment under crosswinds in framing the predictions.

“The transformative change that the healthcare industry in Asia/Pacific is currently navigating through is primarily driven by consumer preferences, healthtech firms, and evolving healthtech ecosystems. Going forward, as the shift from hospital-centric care to patient-centric care happens, stakeholders of the healthcare ecosystem in Asia/Pacific will have increased focus on a ‘care anywhere’ approach, which is increasingly data-driven, to make the care system more accessible, affordable, and scalable,” says Manoj Vallikkat, Research Manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Healthcare Insights.
